However, I dislike the way iPhoto has to build a library file of your photos. These look great and are a nice way to view your photos and reminisce on the past. One of my favorite features of iPhoto are the photo montages which allow you to select a style of presentation with accompanying music. ![]() An elegant photo manager Overall, iPhoto is an extremely elegant photo application which makes viewing photos a pleasure. Of course, iPhoto is also very well integrated into other Apple apps such as iDVD so your iPhoto images can easily be used in videos that you're editing. In particular, the unified search function allows you to quickly find any photo based on all sorts of criteria like date, name or keywords and now, even faces. In fact, the real strength of the program resides in the organizing options such as organizing by events, create a gallery, print out calendars and books etc. ![]() IPHOTO FOR MAC OS 10.6.8 DOWNLOADThere is no way to legally download the latest version of iPhoto for free, as it only came 'free' with brand new Macs for a few years (and has now been replaced on the newest Macs with an app just called "Photos").The interface is very slick and iPhoto features tons of tools to help you manage your library. With the new Macs that qualified for the free downloads, the first time you signed in to the App Store you would be prompted to "Accept" iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband which would then bind these apps to your Apple ID as purchases (although they were free). As of 2 years ago I know they were still able to replace this disc for you with an original for $15 upon request. if you have a button that says "Update" and not "Download", barring any other weird glitches that usually means that the App Store is seeing the "iPhoto.app" SOMEWHERE on your hard drive.IPhoto Library Manager allows you to organize your photos among multiple iPhoto libraries, rather than having to store all of your photos in one giant library. Use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild your library from scratch while retaining all your iPhoto organization and metadata. My situation: 280GB iPhoto Library with ~40K photos and movies sitting on my MBP. I use Backblaze online backup(but hadnt backed up in 4 weeks with lots of photos uploaded - not to mention the chunked up way you would need to download iPhoto components to restore - or pay the $189 fee to have files prepped and shipped - glad the feature is there but.), but my NAS solution at home was not so great and always had issues with Time Machine so no local backup. Well my 2.5 year MBP started having issues - got real sluggish, started doing funky things and then it crashed. after a bunch of steps to get it back up, still lots of hard drive errors that even after repair still issues. PROBLEM: because of disk corruption, there were parts of the library and pictures that couldn't be read and could fix with iPhoto - and therefore could not Copy the library to new drive! New SSD and a $20 CabletoGo SATA drive adapter (AWESOME and Great value BTW!) and I could get to my old drive which had the iPhoto Library on it. Not wanting to individually copy all the masters and recreate iPhoto for ~40K pictures, i scoured for a solution. This might sound corny, but this program saved my most valuables and time. ![]()
